14th Jan 2009 - A Blog Revival?
Calling all Jubilate people! Remember the days when everyone blogged? I absolutely loved reading the debriefs after big events. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Having your words heard by everyone else! So I'll go first. Check me out at: kurufurudo.blogspot.com And, if you want your blog publicised, drop a tag and let me know so I can include it in our list. Cheers, Cliff |

Christmas Midnight: This was an impromptu arrangement of this beautiful carol, done but a day before Christmas Eve. Kudos to Aloy and Josh for being super brave to take this on, last minute. =)

Christmas Midnight: Medley of the Year, 'Ding Dong Merrily on High' and 'Good King Wenceslas', graciously brought to you by Irene! =)

| All Man's Labour Can Produce |

Christmas Midnight: Old skool offertory hymn, Clifford's favorite. This was supposed to be combined with another song, but there wasn't a need - wasn't as packed as it usually is during Christmas Midnight. =(
|
| When A Child Is Born |
|
Christmas Midnight: Yet another impromptu solo, this time, from Steffi. Irene on the emotional soliloquy, and Steffi again on the ending.
|
| Hark The Herald Angels Sing |

Christmas Midnight: Another grand rendition of this timeless classic. So nice to hear the whole congregation behind us!

Carolling 2009: Caroling with Jubilate on 12, 13, 19 & 20 Dec 2009. Madness, but in a nice way.

With a new mission, a higher meaning put in place for the future of Jubilate!, we will grow and be the Church Choir we have always strived to be. To those who couldn't make it down for today's gathering for various reasons today, you have been missed. To those who have decided to leave Jubilate!, thank you for being a part of our "glorious history" once and we continue to look forward to your return. Lastly, to those who pledged to give their commitment and love for Jubilate!, thank you. May today, 30th June 2007 mark a new beginning for Jubilate! Amen.

Lastly, please do not be late. We're on an extremely tight schedule. :) |
|
An attempt to clear the air and not burn bridges over a misunderstanding, allow me to explain on behalf of those who made that fateful decision. "Those who do not attend 30th Jun meeting, will be assumed that they won't be joining us." If many haven't realised, our dear Andrea has been painstakingly calling on our past members confirming their attendance for this meeting over the past 2 weeks. Many have responded, citing reasons why they can/can't attend the meeting; otherwise, those that have commitment problems bcoz of their work schedule, we have accepted them and welcome them to join us whenever they can (Read Andrea's entry below.) I apologize on behalf of the committee, if we have been misinterpreted that you die-die can't join us just coz you're busy on 30th. If you have reasons, I think we have accepted them and no questions were asked thereafter. (Probably made a joke or two about our two NS boys who are 'banned' from choir coz of army obligations. Yes. JOKE. We didn't mean it, and I’m surprised and disappointed that people took this literally) No, we are not picking our members. No, we are not the best choir around. And nobody said we were. But who exactly are we? We are a group of dedicated people who want to work things out right this time. We want to build something all over again. We want to build a solid foundation of members who share the same passion for singing and making good music together. We want to nurture and develop the dedicated people to use the voices and talents that God gave us, in serving the Church. We need to know who can or have difficulty giving us their commitment. We need to know this so that we can plan for our future. (Yes, we want to have a future. We don't want to be just a hype.) We need to know this for practice and training purposes of every individual that comes religiously for practices. We needed to start from scratch coz we know we have changed as an organization altogether. Everyone's lives have moved on since Jubilate started and we needed some form of establishment and understanding between each and every member, past, present and future who wants to join us. We never said we wanna kick anybody out. We would be insane to say so. And if by now you hadn't realised, We have always welcomed anyone who want to, to sit with us for Sunday masses just to be merry, to sing and pray together. That is essentially what makes us a successful group, built on friendship, love and trust. Yes, that will remain the same. The only thing different about us is we want to serious in what we do. And this, I seek everyone's understanding in knowing where we are coming from. We were insistent on the attendance of 30th Jun was because ALL OF THE ABOVE was part of what we wanted to share with all of you. Not because we are finding attempts to push people away. And not because we are arrogant about ourselves. |

Hi all, ok i'm not publicising for amplify or anything (or am i?) but i would like to let you all know about tmr's meeting (friday). Every friday amplify will have their own 2 hour session (7.30pm-9.30pm). There'll be talks, p&w and fellowship as well. So if you're interested, see you there. I feel that their p&w sessions are good, so maybe some of you would like to make a trip down to take a look. This is their address: Catholic Spirituality Centre 1261, Upper Serangoon Road,Singapore 534796. If you're taking bus 62, drop at punggol park. Its also near CHIJ (Our Lady of Good Counsel). I'm going down tmr eveing, so if you all decide to go, let me know if you dont know how to get there, if not, then i'll see you all there! =) the other thing is about this coming saturday.. Practice is from 2.30pm-4.30pm NOT 7.30pm. Please come down. This practice is superly duperly freakingly important. We've got to practice for the p&w session thats in 2 weeks' time at the same time for mass on sunday too. So yes we've got lots to cover in 2 hours, so please be on time. Just to let you all know, the evening mass choir will be coming in after our practice, so it wouldn't be nice if we eat into their practice time, which goes back to the point on being on time. If you cannot make it please msg to let us know or tag at least by 11am on saturday morning. |

hi all just made a trip down to church yesterday to ask father khoo some stuff. And i just found out that whatever plans we have for the choir be it camps, practices, recruitments, using of facilities, etc, we've got to bring it up during our music ministry meetings. meetings are held like a few months once. So you know what that means?...it means that we've got to continuously think of what we want to do for the next 2 months (or at least, till the next meeting). So from now till the next meeting (somewhere in July), please start the free flow of suggestions as to what you want to do besides of the weekly practices. Please remember that these suggestions will be carried out in july, august and maybe the start of september. And your suggestions will be brought up during the meeting. Ok thats all. |
|
Hi again. I know I said earlier, practice will be cancelled this coming Saturday due to the Youth BBQ @ Aljunied. HOWEVER, I just realised, we MUST have practice because we will be providing chorale backup for the Praise & Worship on 7 July. A LOT of new songs to pick up in less than 2 pracs. Nice songs too. I'm sure all of you would love it. (Provided the coordinators approve of my list.) Furthermore, we are attempting to coordinate our voices with the band and Praise leader. Quite a new arrangement for everyone. Hence, I suggest having practice at an earlier time on Saturday (23 Jun), 3-5pm. Tag to let me know if you can/cant make it. GO! |
|
Hi guys. Choir practice today has been cancelled. Could I please request in future, to inform Andrea (or myself) if you will not be able to attend any practice. Give us one week prior notice. It is extremely hard to plan for practice or even for masses if we do not know the turnout for either event. If we want to have a good mass together, we need that extra effort from each and everyone of you. Rmbr, we can only function well as one. Be fair & accountable to each other. |

Ok, time to make this official. New blog for the Jubilate Choir, with an old name, heh. I couldn't get jubilate.blogspot.com coz someone has it already. ANYWAY. Jubilate General Meeting - 30th June 2007 We'll be having a choir meeting on 30th June, 2 Saturdays from now, to generally conduct a census of who is in, and who isn't in, the Jubilate Choir. New Appointment - Coming Soon! I'll let Andrea break down our new structure, and appointments, and what we'll be doing in the next half of the year, but for now, I'd like to bring this to your attention. Praise Event - 7th July We have an upcoming event for the St Stephen's Youth Ministry, that is, on Saturday, July 7th @ 1pm. We've been asked to provide music and voices for a 45minute Praise session. Songs are being chosen as you read this, and you'll have more details about this at this Saturday's practice. Please tell your friends, and bring whoever wants to be in Jubilate choir down for the practice. ~~~~~~ Leaven And As some of you know, our boys have formed a band (Leaven), and they've grown pretty good of late. They'll be providing the music for this session, and the rest of the Jubilate Choir will be providing the voices. Currently, this is the tentative lineup of people who are actively involved in the music, so Jubilate will be without their voices for this event" Leaven - Randall (Guitars) - Clifford (Guitars) - Alfonsus (Bass) - Auggy (Drums / Percussion) - Zac (Lead Singer / Worship Leader) Auggy, I'll bring the djembe. Randall, can you bring the Ovation acoustic guitar that you have for this week's practice. Nick, we'll need to shift the equipment from Aloy's house to church for this practice and upcoming practices. Can you help arrange this? ~~~~~~ As for Jubilate, hope to see more of you at this Saturday's practice. Peace and God bless. |
