14th Jan 2009 - A Blog Revival?
Calling all Jubilate people! Remember the days when everyone blogged? I absolutely loved reading the debriefs after big events. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Having your words heard by everyone else! So I'll go first. Check me out at: kurufurudo.blogspot.com And, if you want your blog publicised, drop a tag and let me know so I can include it in our list. Christmas Midnight: Old skool offertory hymn, Clifford's favorite. This was supposed to be combined with another song, but there wasn't a need - wasn't as packed as it usually is during Christmas Midnight. =(

hmm.. just felt that the previous entry was lacking one more person that needs mentioning.. and that person is of course none other than...... DAWN!! **CLAP CLAP** when it comes to dedication and commitment, I believe that no one can ever come close to you. For all the tolerance and perseverance you've put into this choir, tirelessly conducting warm-ups for us, wanting to make us sing better; and to 'feel' the songs we are singing - making us sing softly, as well as loudly when we need to... you're a true leader and inspiration to the choir, and I don't think we could have sung as well at the houses or at midnite mass w/o your guidance. I'm really glad and thankful that Jubilate is lucky to have a choir mistress like you who is so musically talented & passionate towards this choir. The tune for the midnite mass psalm (a.k.a. Dawn's psalm) was really beautiful. And yes, no worries abt the Alleluia mistake. haha! Special mention shld also go to the solo-ists - Zac, Yvette, Aloy, Masta, Randall & Andrea for their wonderful voices and effort put in. I still think that our version of 'The X'mas Song' beats any other version that I've heard HANDS DOWN. =) And then there's Auggy, our favourite drummer boy.. (pa rum pa pum pum) And of coz, not to forget my fave group in choir - none other than the BASSes! You guys are wonderful man - Zac, Fonz, Andrew & Ritchie. even Brandon too. (glad you and Elise could join us for caroling this yr again.) juz love it when we're doing parts or hitting the low notes together. smth that Tenors can't do. HAH. Basses rock always. YEAH!! Without a doubt, it has been one helluva X'mas experience for us this year, that 'feel good' feeling all-too-familiar when we come a-caroling, singing at midnite mass... How in the world are we going to top this yr's X'mas next yr?!?! |

Hi all, Just wanted to leave a note of thanks and appreciation to each and everyone of you for your dedication and commitment, your endurance towards my otherwise unpredictable mood swings, your voices whom I know at least 60% of us lost it by the end of Christmas mass. Thanks for your willingness to come for practices after practices doing the same thing over and over just so we can get it all perfect. It's nice to see everyone bonding once again, in our 3 days of Caroling together. Our $210 spent on the bus charter was a gd investment after all. Hehe. I hope you feel it as much as I did, that all the hardwork put in has been all worthwhile. A few mentions here: Clifford - For your endless nights of preparing beautiful music arrangements for us, perfecting your music chords and getting high on hitting every right key, right strum... Yes, you are extremely talented and we all couldn't be more proud to have you accompanying us once again for Caroling. Don't leave. Daryl - Haven't apologized to you for my mistake made during the Celtic Alleluia and got you lost thanks to my confused expression. Ha. Glad you picked everything up nonethess and your Offertory hymn was beautiful. Thanks for your hardwork and willingness to support the choir with your music dedication all the time. Andrea - It's nice seeing you big-sister-ing the new ppl in the Choir and watching you take charge. Thanks for easing an otherwise tension-filled practices by giving all the support you could ever give to our forever-stressed team. Hehe. Andrew - For your efficient help in doing the slides for us, and changing most of them at the last minute. Nick, Na & the Starbucks boys - You know what you all did and I sincerely thank you for making that difference. Natalie, Yvette, Joshua, Aaron - Your presence has been a morale boost for us and I'm glad to see you enjoying yourself in the last 3 days of caroling. (I'm assuming you guys enjoyed it, right?) This is the Christmas high we get year after year and I'm glad that we are able to share this joy with all of you this year. To everyone - I hope you're proud of yourself over what happened in the past week or so. All those uncles and aunties who have been watching us 'perform' Christmas after Christmas, all couldn't resist telling me they have never heard us doing this so well b4. We were good, now - we're even better. Be proud, Jubilate! Here's to Christmas and Caroling 2007 - CHHEEEEEEEEEEEERS! |

Hello everyone, regarding this saturday evening, please be in church by 6.30pm. We'll be having our short caroling session for the evening congregation after the mass. Dont be late! If you can't make it, please inform us, either your section leaders or myself. Secondly, please PLEASE do come down for the next few practices. It is really extremely critical for each and everyone of you, who want to make good music this christmas, to be present. Think of it this way, you want to decorate a christmas tree with all sorts of ornaments, and it has been bought. But what's the use of it if you dont have a tree? Similarly, with files, talented people, bongos, guitar, houses on our list, choir members, without proper practice, its not going to be of any use, because when we go out, we cannot make good music. People from our church already have a certain expectation from us when they requested for us to go to their house last sunday, so let us do our very best this year, or even better. We ourselves know how good music makes us feel and, all we need to do now is to combine all efforts from each and everyone of you for the next few practices. The ornaments and lightings have been settled. All we need is to get the tree together! COME ON PEOPLE, LETS GO! *I felt the christmas chill today, did you? I caught the christmas chill too, ahh chooo!* |

Firstly, I'd like to apologize to everyone and especially Da Masta Endru, for playing crap organ today. =( No excuses, I simply coz I woke late, and was unprepared for the 'newish' parts of Mass today, so sorry Endru, my deepest apologies for putting you on the spot. Secondly, just wanna say thanks everyone who came, today. You made us feel extra good, coz it's really uplifting for us, coz we're trying our best to put everything together, given the short time span of this year's caroling practice period, and it was really trying on us the past few practices, because there so much to cover, and so little time. So really: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! And my apologies to everyone for raising my voice abit. Hope you all understand that we have a limited span of time, and if you're here making noise, it takes MORE time to teach others. All of us here are mature enough to understand this. Fun is fun, but would you rather we have fun now, and f*ck up later, or be serious now and have fun later? Pardon my French. I would love the Choir to be all fun and no scolding, all laughs and no black faces, but please understand what we're dealing with. We have 2 more, at most 3, practices before caroling, and more importantly, the big Christmas Eve and Christmas Day masses. I'd really appreciate it if everyone could be more conscious of your surroundings and how your behaviour affects the practice, and the people CONDUCTING THE PRACTICE. Like it or not, you've agreed to be part of the Choir, and with that comes a bit of discipline on everyone's part. Simply, show some respect man, for Dawn and I. We're in the business of singing, not talking. Wanna talk, go join lectors. (Ooooh. Awkward.) I'm gonna say a final THANK YOU to everyone for putting up that performance after Mass today. For me, it was a first reminder for me that singing and playing in THIS choir, is what I've been craving for, all this time I've been away. And it's also the first time in a long time, I've felt so friggin' good about Christmas. Thank you all! |
