14th Jan 2009 - A Blog Revival?
Calling all Jubilate people! Remember the days when everyone blogged? I absolutely loved reading the debriefs after big events. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Having your words heard by everyone else! So I'll go first. Check me out at: kurufurudo.blogspot.com And, if you want your blog publicised, drop a tag and let me know so I can include it in our list. Cheers, Cliff |

Christmas Midnight: This was an impromptu arrangement of this beautiful carol, done but a day before Christmas Eve. Kudos to Aloy and Josh for being super brave to take this on, last minute. =)

|
Christmas Midnight: Medley of the Year, 'Ding Dong Merrily on High' and 'Good King Wenceslas', graciously brought to you by Irene! =)

Christmas Midnight: Very grand rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful.
|
| All Man's Labour Can Produce |
|
Christmas Midnight: Old skool offertory hymn, Clifford's favorite. This was supposed to be combined with another song, but there wasn't a need - wasn't as packed as it usually is during Christmas Midnight. =(
|
| When A Child Is Born |
|
Christmas Midnight: Yet another impromptu solo, this time, from Steffi. Irene on the emotional soliloquy, and Steffi again on the ending.
|
| Hark The Herald Angels Sing |

Christmas Midnight: Another grand rendition of this timeless classic. So nice to hear the whole congregation behind us!

I like it when I hear applause from the congregation after the Recessional hymn. I go "tsk" when FK doesn't publicly show his appreciation of the choir. This quote I chanced upon a blog post stopped me in my tracks of my blog-scanning and I read the entire length of the post AND the comments. “Wherever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of liturgy has totally disappeared and been replaced by a kind of religious entertainment. Such attraction fades quickly - it cannot compete in the market of leisure pursuits, incorporating as it increasingly does various forms of religious titillation.” If this caught your attention, click on the hyper-linked quote and you'll be linked to Adoro te Devote. |

Hi all. (1) Chill-Out @ St. Stephen (22nd Nov) I've the tickets with me. If you would like to give some support to your own parish youth's activity - you're welcome to join us, at a fee of $30 no less. You would be paying mainly for a buffet dinner, 2 drinks, goodie bag worth $200 and a free instant glamour makeover shot (7.15-8.15pm only) AND a whole night worth of entertainment till late. From what I'm hearing - they do need a lot of support for this. So, if you can afford the time and money, please make a donation of your time and money for your own Church. Treat it as a generous contribution to our Church fund if you need to find additional reason. It MAY not be the best party in town, but we can make it the best (Trust me, they really need us.) Meeting time: 7.30pm Venue: Church (3rd floor Hall) (2) Daniel & Retha Wedding (6 December) We've yet another wedding request in 3 weeks time. Time to be advised again. Will start practising some of the songs this week onwards. (3) Combined Practice for Dec and extra practices coming It's December soon and it's the busiest time of our year. Bcos of the massive Pageant that we are supporting, I'll need to incorporate some Sat's afternoon/evening practices in December. May even need some Fridays as well... More details will be shared this week. Be prepared. It's going to be a lot of hardwork, but it'll pay off eventually. You and I know that. :) (4) New Parts to learn for this week Uploaded 2 more new carols to add on to our repertoire - O Holy Night & O Lil Town of Bethlehem. http://www.box.net/shared/c1g2n24ona Pls download the midi files and prepare for this week. Thanks! |

http://www.box.net/shared/c1g2n24ona Contains the previous songs as well as the latest few we learnt on Sunday. :D You can download NWC software to playback the NWC files here: http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/ but midi files can be played on any player. |

(1) Caroling 2008 We are progressing pretty fast. Have completed the following repertoires, so far so good, sounding great, just need to tighten our harmonies and be absolutely sure of our individual parts. For those who have missing practices, here's what you've missed, please do your own catch-up and revisions. Irene will be uploading all the relevant midi files soon so you can do your own practice. - Angels We Have Heard on High (2 voices - Completed!) - Joy to the World (4 voices - Completed!) - We Three Kings (2 voices - Completed!) - Feliz Navidad (4 voices - Completed!) Don't take it for granted that you can depend on your other section mates who have worked hard and you'll just leech on to their hardwork. Do your own homework, it makes everyone's life easier. (2) Partial Sectionals on 9 Nov ALL of you will be divided in groups consisting of 1-2 singers from each section. You'll be going through ALL 4 of the above songs on your own, within your team. The main objective is to blend. You gotta hold your own show this time. So do your preparation before sectionals this coming weekend, if not you'll be a bunch of out-of-tune lost sheeps. Teams will be divided as such: Combo A: Zac (Bass) Randall (Tenor) Irene* (Alto) Chelsea (Alto) Steffi (Soprano) Combo B: Daryl* (Bass) Aaron (Tenor) Nick (Tenor) Colleen (Alto) Yvette (Soprano) Combo C: Andrew (Bass) Aloy Auggy Verena* (Alto) Andrea (Soprano) Combo D: Fonz (Bass) Joshua* (Tenor) Celestine (Alto) Tessa (Alto) Jean (Soprano) Ruth (Soprano) (3) Song files EVERYONE to bring your own caroling files from next weekend. No one is to share any more files from next week onwards. (4) Newbies If you realised from the team list, we have 2 more newbies joining us for caroling this year - Jean and Ruth! Jean is a former choir member from Temasek Secondary School and Ruth - well, the same ol' sweet Ruth is back to join the force for Christmas. Please welcome them... :) Oh yes, and all of which are from the Sopranos... be ready to be brought down by the Soprano powerhouse! I can't emphasize how much I need everyone to put in the effort to do your own practice for caroling this year. And if you have been doing your own homework, from the bottom of my heart - I'm truly grateful for making everyone's life so much easier and making practice so much more pleasant... If you haven't - please, I don't need people to only show face for practice, I need efforts in preparing for practice. Keep a lookout for the midi files from Irene coming up soon! |
