Calling all Jubilate people! Remember the days when everyone blogged? I absolutely loved reading the debriefs after big events. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Having your words heard by everyone else! So I'll go first. Check me out at: kurufurudo.blogspot.com And, if you want your blog publicised, drop a tag and let me know so I can include it in our list. It's that time of the year again and by now, all of you should have a Santee to take care of (If you don't, and your names are listed here, please quickly haunt Aloy down, he has it prepared for you!); This Sunday, 20 December, after our final rounds of caroling, we are going to have a mini Christmas celebration for our Choir as a wrap-up to Caroling 2009 (Well, almost at least!) and a little thanksgiving dinner for everyone's efforts in putting this together so well.

Huh? The Lord wants us to suffer? WHY? That was my first reaction to the line. Ever question why God allowed suffering to happen in the world? I thought I knew.... but after reading this, I think I know better now. Fr John Speekman shares his views on this Sunday's 1st reading. |

During the fellowship after mass, we will be promoting our choir, in a subtle manner. But mister Zac, how do we go about recruiting SUBTLY? How? We will attack from 2 fronts. 1st one will be the splendid performance we'll pull off during mass tomorrow, making sure that the parishioners will remember us and gain ourselves more recognition. 2nd. I will be splitting you guys up into pairs to mingle with the crowd during fellowship. Target those who do not belong to any ministry. How to know if people are not in the ministry? Attack YOUTHS. Most youth in our parish does not belong to any ministry. However, do not limit yourself to kids who are younger than 20. Go ahead and nail some adults if you can as well. Also if it helps, mingle with the age group range you're most comfortable with. Like for me, i love dealing with people my age group and If you like to deal with 30s, GO DEAL WITH THEM. You get the idea! Serious talk now. Rules: 1) SMILE (this is important. You may be not realised this, but this is the ONLY way you can break the natural awkwardness between 2 strangers. ONLY WAY) 2) Know the objective: RECRUITING CHOIR MEMBERS 3) Work around the objective. i) Begin by introducing yourself with a handshake, share with them about our choir (name of choir, how to pronounce or spell? 9am mass. Caroling during christmas) ii) Tell them we're looking for members. (e.g. we would love to have new faces such as you.) Address their concerns if any. Or maybe even tell them that they don't have to worry about not being capable enough to sing. Jubilate will groom you. iii) If they express no interest, PROMOTE CAROLING. tell them to at least join us for caroling (e.g. its really a whole new different Christmas experience if you would give us a chance to show you) If all goes well, tell them to join our choir this Sunday for TEA after 9am mass, just to hang around with us and come join us for practice too. They are not obliged to join the choir if they don't like it. And then TAKE THEIR HP NUMBER Zac |

I've put up a link under the "Sounds" tab to the midis. You can also click HERE. There are a list of zip files containing the midis for songs we have learned with parts. Each zip contains an NWC (Noteworthy composer) file and midis for each section. NWC files are files from a programme which will allow you to see the notes as the song is played. If you want, you can get a free trial version from HERE. But the midis alone should be enough. Feel free to ask me if you need other midis which are not there. :) |

Choir is not a ministry where we get to interact with parishioners. Catechists interact with parents. Canteen group serves people food. SVDP mingles with others as they visit the homes of the poor. Wardens tell you where to park. Choir? We are too busy turning the pages, keeping to our parts and singing us loud as we can. Parishioners, ie people who live near SS, are in the minority. How do we expect people who live far away to commit weekly to the choir? And lastly, no sane person wants to be a weekly volunteer. These are my thoughts to why I think we are stuck with recruitment. Here are my ideas to get unstuck.
Before we start Project Bigger, here are 2 questions for you to reflect on:

Hey guys, ladies, boys, girls We've set up our very own Twitter account! Everyone is invited to tweet on our account. Anything stupid, anything on your mind... Any rubbish thoughts you have, doesn't even have to be choir related (of coz, choir related stuff could be great too!). It could be about your pet dog, your new hair cut, your painful braces experience, your liquid diet... ANYTHING! And some examples of choir related stuff could be, how great the organist played today, OR how wonderfully angelic our cantor voice is, OR "practice is fun today, we actually sang well!" etc. This is just a little way to get everyone to stay connected with each other. Share bits of your life with everyone. Set up your own twitter account as well and sign up as a follower. Our link: http://www.twitter.com/jubilatechoir |

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. Mark 6:30-32 How many of you are looking forward to taking a break? I am too! We have worked hard this year and we need some time for fun, rest and relaxation. Did you know that Jesus taught his disciples that it was important for them to take a break? Jesus' disciples travelled from town to town telling others about God and His love for them. They travelled every day preaching, teaching and healing the sick. They worked so hard that they often didn't even have time to stop to eat or sleep. They became very tired. When Jesus saw how tired they were, he said to them, "Come with me to a quiet place and get some rest." The Bible then says, "So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place." I think it is important to notice a couple of things about what the Bible says. First, Jesus said, "Come with me." When we take a break, we need to remember to take Jesus with us. Some people never give Jesus a thought when they go on a break. We should include Jesus in all that we do, when we go on a break. Second, the Bible says the disciples went away to a quiet place. Their main purpose was to rest and renew their strength. Some people plan a break that is so full of activities that when they come home, they are more tired than when they left! I hope that you will enjoy your next break. Don't forget to take Jesus with you, and don't forget to set aside some time for rest and relaxation. Then come back home refreshed and renewed! Note: I got this from the bulletin from SVDP. |

As we all know, we are a church choir. This means that we have a dual responsibility about our actions – as a CATHOLIC during mass, and as a CHORISTER during choir practice. This is a reminder of how we should be behaving. I should not have to tell you this since almost all of you are ADULTS but it appears that reminders are needed now and then. Keywords for this reminder are: RESPONSIBILITY and RESPECT. During Mass The purpose of a church choir is to lead the people in song, which is a form of prayer. We should always be mindful of our actions during mass. People are watching us. Like how we always start our prayers – let us remember that we are in the HOLY PRESENCE OF GOD. What kind of behaviour do we exhibit in God’s presence? From a more earthly angle, remember that the choir’s pews are positioned such that the ENTIRE congregation can see us. In case you haven’t noticed, the choir pews are ELEVATED, which means that even sitting down, every one of you is noticeable. During the homily especially, DO NOT do anything that makes it look like you’re not paying attention. Of course, I know that homily is occasionally torture, not unlike pulling your fingernails off with pliers. But at least PRETEND to be paying attention. This means, no sleeping, no talking, no whispering, no sms-ing, no studying under the pew. Even if you’re not afraid of lightning striking you, I am. Remember that you set an example for the rest of the congregation. As much as I hate to quote Fr Khoo – take the time as penance to gain merits. During Practice Practice is there for a purpose. Behaviour during practice is definitely not where it should be. This is a matter of RESPECT. Respect for Andrea, or Dawn, or anyone else who happens to be up there. It’s not easy to conduct a practice. Basic DISCIPLINE – when Andrea’s talking, no one else should be. When the organ starts playing, time to keep quiet and get ready to sing. Last week Daryl played the intro at least THREE TIMES before we actually started to sing. Again, NO talking, sms-ing, Facebook-ing, sleeping, studying, fooling around during practice. If you’re one of those who will literally DIE if you don’t do any of these for 1.5 hours a week, do it as long as you don’t disturb others and you’re ready when you need to be. Please don’t make us have to treat you like kids and confiscate handphones for the duration of practice. Be a RESPONSIBLE choir member. That is, prepare what you have to. Practice your parts at home so we don’t waste time going through them again and again. We only have 1.5 hours a week. That’s not much time. Say, if we waste 15 minutes every practice waiting for you to settle down, or to revise parts, in a year, that’s 13 hours wasted in total. Think about it. I think the basic rule is: BE READY. Whatever you may be doing, when it’s time to sing, be ready to do it. Don’t make Andrea have to repeat herself and wait for you. You should be waiting for her because she’s the conductor. You don’t make your boss or principal wait for you, don’t do it here. Concluding remarks I haven’t talked about other things like punctuality or singing technique or etiquette, though God knows, we need to be reminded of that too. I also know that I don’t have the authority to tell you all to do anything. You belong to this church ministry. It’s not Happy Hour. Being in choir is a sacrifice. It means taking time out of whatever else we’d like to be doing. It’s about doing your job and fulfilling your responsibility. It’s about respecting each other and singing the best we can to create a conducive environment for prayer. There are THREE WEEKS left to Easter and to one of our biggest masses in the year. Three more practices. Less than 4.5 hours of time together. We are not ready. If that isn’t scary to you, it’s scary to me and to the choir committee who are all working their asses off. Even if you don’t care about God, care about your own image. We have a lot of work ahead of us and we cannot afford to waste any time. I sincerely hope you all read this and think about your behaviour. It only takes one person to disrupt an entire practice and that means wasted time trying to restore discipline. Remember: RESPONSIBILITY and RESPECT. Do it for yourselves, do it for the choir, do it for God. |

As Lent draws to a close, let us remember that by dying on the cross, Jesus Christ took away all our sins, so that we might be saved. On our part, as children of God, what have we done this Lent season? Are we repenting and seeking forgiveness? Or are we still as arrogant and ignorant, refusing to humble ourselves? If you have not had a chance to sit down and reflect, perhaps you would like to join us for an evening of reflection and sharing on Jesus's last moments before he died. Date: 4 April 2009 (Saturday) Time: 7.30pm-9.30pm Venue: RCIA Room/Choir Room, 2nd level "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me'" (John 14:6). ![]() |

I'd like to share with you a video I found on youtube a few years back. It's the song "I See Love" by Third Day set to clips from the film "The Passion of the Christ". I like to take it out and watch it during Lent because it's so meaningful and poignant and really helps me to think about what kind of sacrifice Jesus made for us all and why? Because GOD LOVES US. Isn't that amazing? |

I prefer Easter. Cuz the buildup to Easter seems so much more purposeful, with Ash Wednesday marking the start of Lent, with Stations of The Cross, the call to make sacrifices, the Holy Week which culminates to the Easter Song sung at the end of Easter Vigil. The Easter bunny and Easter egg-painting and hunting activities lose hands down to the Christmas presents and Orchard Rd lightup and blah blah blah. I've made some plans to make sure my Lent is meaningfully spent. I hope you'll take a little step to allow God more into your life. Fr John Speekman is really good in using analogies - he wrote about the symbolism of ashes - Go READ! http://homiliesfromaustralia.blogspot.com/2009/02/ash-wednesday-year-b.html Labels: faith |

It's our first prayer meet in quite awhile, and, well, it was a good meet : ) With deep sharings from Verena on the scripture reading from Mark 1:40-45, along with Steffi's wise comment on Jesus' comparison of us to birds in Matthew 6:24-34, and everyone else's reflections on the readings, I know we've grown that little bit closer to God. Just some of the things we shared: On Acceptance: How, as members of a church ministry, we should help bring people into our church community, just like Jesus welcoming the healed leper back into his community by healing and cleansing him of his illness. On our Commitment to the choir, and to the church: Why do we keep coming to sing every Sunday? Can we purely say that we come down because we want to serve God, and to be loved by him? We must reflect on why we are in the choir as we grow and continue serving in this ministry. "You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other...You cannot serve both God and money". Let's make sure that we're not serving a second master in our lives. On Trust: "So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough wories of its own." Let us go through life safe in the knowledge that no matter what we give up in order to spend time with God, He will always provide for us, returning to us more than what we gave up for Him. On Humility:: Everything that we do, we should do for the glory of God, and not for ourselves. Jesus healed the leper, and charged that he should tell no one. We should follow Jesus in not claiming honour for what we do for the church. And finally, on Japanese social experiments/pranks: Funny. We should do this some time. Yup, so thanks again Andrea, Aloy and Zac for planning this for us : ) -Josh |

Just a few things to take note of before you go up to the pulpit to sing: Attire (Strictly NO jeans allowed on the altar) For guys: Shirt, pants (no jeans) and shoes For girls: Dresses and skirts (no above-the-knee lengths) / pants (no jeans). No revealing tops and sandals. Covered-toe shoes/heels preferably.
Preparation of the Responsorial Psalm As a cantor, you MUST know what you are proclaiming and not sing blindly. It is not just about knowing your tune, it’s knowing how to proclaim the word to the congregation. Understand your psalm and say a little prayer before you begin. The Liturgy of the Word sets the tone for the rest of the mass and you play a vital role. What to do: Before mass begins, make sure you’re seated at either end of the pew. Leave your seat after or as you are saying “thanks be to God” after the 1st reading. Walk smartly (no dragging of your feet or swaggering) towards the centre of the aisle, and bow towards the altar before proceeding to the pulpit. When you are at the pulpit, adjust the mike. Signal to the organist when you are ready to begin. Usually, the organist will play the response once. The cantor then sings it once for the congregation, and the congregation will sing along with the cantor the 3rd time. Eye contact with the congregation is crucial THROUGHOUT the psalm, especially if you need their responses. Raise your hand and look at the congregation when they’re supposed to sing the response. Also sing along with the congregation for all the responses, because sometimes they don’t catch it the first time. After the psalm, go sit down where the 2nd reader was sitting. When you go back up to sing the Gospel Acclamation there is no need to bow a second time. After the acclamation walk back down to the middle of the aisle, bow to the altar once more, then return to your seat. Take note: As mentioned in the article on church music that Verena posted last year, remember that the words and their meaning are more important than the tune, which is just there to help you better bring the message in the psalm across to the congregation. You’re not going there to perform, but to proclaim God’s message. Labels: Cantor, first, instructions |

Hi everyone! I suppose most people may have forgotten but we do have an external blog that's open to the public. So, recently, we've been doing updates and some revamping to the site. But we need your help too! There's no point in doing anything if there's no one to see it. So, SPREAD THE NEWS!! Put the link up wherever you can. Tell your friends, link it from your blog, put it in email signatures, forum signatures, Facebook, Friendster, Myspace, whatever! Don't let people forget that we exist. :) |

We've finally come to the end of all our activities for Christmas 2008 and of cos, the end of the year. It has been a long journey before we could reach to this point, but as with all journeys, we always have something new to learn as a choir, with each other and that's how we learn to grow as one. Here's my thanks to each of you for making Jubilate! the way it is today: Andrea: For her unending support to the entire choir - She's the one who ensures we have a nice air-con room for us to practice in comfort, the one who ensures everyone not forget to come when they should be coming and many more... You guys have seen her at work, and you know what she has been up to all this year for you, for us. Without her, I'll probably jump on everyone 1,000,000 times more than usual. Irene: Our superbly efficient midi-file generator :) Before we even started our practice for Christmas, she was already at work in end-August sieving out do-able music scores and printing them in time for our own practice for everyone. Not forgetting all the AV slides she and her admin team prepares every week. Those slides not just appear by magic, there has been a relentless team behind all this hardwork through the week working for the Choir, week after week. Joshua: I've not made much mention for him but I think he deserves some recognition. Apart from giving support to Irene and the admin team, he has stepped up so much more as our cantor this year, singing so beautifully (and almost effortlessly) mass after mass. And of cos, being one of the brainchild of the hopelessly-forgetful Tenors section, and trying his utter best to perform in his section to prevent more scolding from the grumpy mistress. Steffi: For being a real miracle to our Choir. From that girl whom I used to ask to sing solo and cried during practice, to that confident girl that blossomed so quickly and stunned the congregation with her angelic voice during the Christmas pageant solo act. Indeed, she brought the Sopranos section to yet another level and she sure deserves some applause for her growing courage and being our new found talent. Aloy: For his assistance to our Caroling and chartering a bus for the choir and most importantly, for his time and effort made to plan activities for the Choir this year to ensure we continually grow together. Auggy: For being the LIKE-THE-SUN in this Choir. You are always here, no matter how late, I can always count on your presence. Sometimes you even come AFTER practice ends. You are still appreciated! And for being so dependable and dedicated in your role as Choir Event Liaison Officer Cum Events CEO Director Person. AND of course, for bringing that awesome lovebite to church. Made it JUST in time for the new year! God bless Indonesia! Aaron: I've never said this before, but your punctuality despite being a Seng Kang-er week in and out deserves some mention too. We've people living just 5-10 minutes away from Church, but you still arrive way earlier than them. Keep it up! :) Zac: Just if you didn't know, Zac has sacrificed his measly 14-day annual leave in his Army for Christmas, for us... He took pains to plan (and fight) with his army mates months before to ensure he doesn't miss any Nov/Dec practice and I swear I wasn't the one that got him to do it. He did it on his own will and for that, as a Choir mistress, I'm gratefully thankful for witnessing such commitment. Yvette: While you're not a full-fledged Jubilate-ian as yet, thank you for going against all odds to come give support to our midnight mass and our Caroling gang. Your presence during Christmas was indeed very encouraging and we certainly hope to see you more often for our Sunday mass. Randall: Despite being asleep while we're awake, and awake while we're asleep, like Auggy, we know you're damn dedicated to us, whenever you're conscious. All this is evident during the first caroling day, when everything was over, you came over to the Lees' Residence. Dedication at it's best. And remember, we still love you a lot more for your smooth tenor voice. Not grinding capabilities. Daryl: We know you're in Uni now, and that time is of the essence, but we still appreciate whatever you can give to us despite living on the other end of Singapore. Thank you and hope to see and hear you around more. Tessa: Despite your hectic Uni schedule, you're still a regular face in the Altos Section, and that, I appreciate from the bottom of my heart. And thanks to your sister, we've a newfound Happy Birthday arrangement... Aaaaaaaaaaaa.......... Colleen: You've improved a lot as an Alto and you did well for Christmas with your section. I could hear you! Well done. Andrew: For being a very dedicated bassist in the Choir and a lighthouse to the rest of us - without you, there's no one else to keep a lookout. :) Chelsea: Fret not, it took years for some of our members to be heard, and I'm sure you'll get there soon. :) Thanks for being there with the Choir ever since you joined us for the Camp, it is always nice having a newbie to join our pretty stagnant Jubilate's population, and being more dedicated and participative than a lot of Sunday Catholics out there. RCIY soon...? Genestine: Being the youngest member (still!), it is always a joy to have you around, we can't have you every Sunday as much as we would love to, but you're always welcome to join us at every single occasion we have. Ruth: Thanks for coming forward once again to be a part of our group. You're by far the most conscientious member I have and I appreciate you for that. Like Genestine, we unfortunately can't have you with us as much as wish once school re-opens, but you'll be welcome whenever your time permits you too. Fonz: Sorry that no one gave you your girlfriend for your Secret Santa's... Always nice seeing you fill up the upper right side of the pew every Sunday without fail. Nick & Na: For your continual support to this Choir till this day. Everyone, this choir would be nothing if not for each of you. You complete Jubilate! and made us who and where we are now. All of you have worked really hard this year, and especially for Christmas and I sincerely thank YOU for making that extra effort to do your homework (well, some of you all did!) and making Christmas and our year-end so beautiful. Today, for those who weren't present, Father Khoo approached the choir after our morning mass and personally thanked our choir for our hardwork this year. He rewarded us $150 (from his own money) for us to have a little treat and celebrate as a group. In thanksgiving, we'd have McDonald's breakfast served this Sunday, in conjunction with our annual general meeting after our morning mass. Please start making your orders on the tagboard by this Thursday (Things to be known: What meal and what drink; if not meal, what item. State clearly and NO changes after you've tagged.) Go to www.mcdonalds.com.sg if you don't happen to know what breakfast Macs serves. Date: 4 January (Sunday) Time: 10am - 12.30pm Venue: Church's canteen Till then, enjoy the pictures of Christmas here: http://jubilatechoir.multiply.com |

Christmas has always been a time to celebrate a new beginning. But a new beginning cannot happen without reconciling with God. There are penitential services going on in every church - do make time to go. I found this version of an examination of conscience - do read it before you make your way down to church. http://frpat.com/examen.htm If you can't make it to St Stephen's this Wed, 17 Dec at 8pm, you can download the schedule from http://veritas.org.sg/ |

I'm guilty of being absorbed in the mad rush of work, household chores and fitting in my gym classes, facials and choir practices. Advent has started and yet, it hasn't hit me till tonight. We don't have time to have Advent prayer meets, so do have your little one at home... You can start off by reading the Sunday readings, and good homilies like Fr John Speekman's . Spend a little quiet time and pray... It makes a difference. Don't trust me on this - trust God. |

I like it when I hear applause from the congregation after the Recessional hymn. I go "tsk" when FK doesn't publicly show his appreciation of the choir. This quote I chanced upon a blog post stopped me in my tracks of my blog-scanning and I read the entire length of the post AND the comments. “Wherever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of liturgy has totally disappeared and been replaced by a kind of religious entertainment. Such attraction fades quickly - it cannot compete in the market of leisure pursuits, incorporating as it increasingly does various forms of religious titillation.” If this caught your attention, click on the hyper-linked quote and you'll be linked to Adoro te Devote. |

Hi all. (1) Chill-Out @ St. Stephen (22nd Nov) I've the tickets with me. If you would like to give some support to your own parish youth's activity - you're welcome to join us, at a fee of $30 no less. You would be paying mainly for a buffet dinner, 2 drinks, goodie bag worth $200 and a free instant glamour makeover shot (7.15-8.15pm only) AND a whole night worth of entertainment till late. From what I'm hearing - they do need a lot of support for this. So, if you can afford the time and money, please make a donation of your time and money for your own Church. Treat it as a generous contribution to our Church fund if you need to find additional reason. It MAY not be the best party in town, but we can make it the best (Trust me, they really need us.) Meeting time: 7.30pm Venue: Church (3rd floor Hall) (2) Daniel & Retha Wedding (6 December) We've yet another wedding request in 3 weeks time. Time to be advised again. Will start practising some of the songs this week onwards. (3) Combined Practice for Dec and extra practices coming It's December soon and it's the busiest time of our year. Bcos of the massive Pageant that we are supporting, I'll need to incorporate some Sat's afternoon/evening practices in December. May even need some Fridays as well... More details will be shared this week. Be prepared. It's going to be a lot of hardwork, but it'll pay off eventually. You and I know that. :) (4) New Parts to learn for this week Uploaded 2 more new carols to add on to our repertoire - O Holy Night & O Lil Town of Bethlehem. http://www.box.net/shared/c1g2n24ona Pls download the midi files and prepare for this week. Thanks! |

(1) Caroling 2008 We are progressing pretty fast. Have completed the following repertoires, so far so good, sounding great, just need to tighten our harmonies and be absolutely sure of our individual parts. For those who have missing practices, here's what you've missed, please do your own catch-up and revisions. Irene will be uploading all the relevant midi files soon so you can do your own practice. - Angels We Have Heard on High (2 voices - Completed!) - Joy to the World (4 voices - Completed!) - We Three Kings (2 voices - Completed!) - Feliz Navidad (4 voices - Completed!) Don't take it for granted that you can depend on your other section mates who have worked hard and you'll just leech on to their hardwork. Do your own homework, it makes everyone's life easier. (2) Partial Sectionals on 9 Nov ALL of you will be divided in groups consisting of 1-2 singers from each section. You'll be going through ALL 4 of the above songs on your own, within your team. The main objective is to blend. You gotta hold your own show this time. So do your preparation before sectionals this coming weekend, if not you'll be a bunch of out-of-tune lost sheeps. Teams will be divided as such: Combo A: Zac (Bass) Randall (Tenor) Irene* (Alto) Chelsea (Alto) Steffi (Soprano) Combo B: Daryl* (Bass) Aaron (Tenor) Nick (Tenor) Colleen (Alto) Yvette (Soprano) Combo C: Andrew (Bass) Aloy Auggy Verena* (Alto) Andrea (Soprano) Combo D: Fonz (Bass) Joshua* (Tenor) Celestine (Alto) Tessa (Alto) Jean (Soprano) Ruth (Soprano) (3) Song files EVERYONE to bring your own caroling files from next weekend. No one is to share any more files from next week onwards. (4) Newbies If you realised from the team list, we have 2 more newbies joining us for caroling this year - Jean and Ruth! Jean is a former choir member from Temasek Secondary School and Ruth - well, the same ol' sweet Ruth is back to join the force for Christmas. Please welcome them... :) Oh yes, and all of which are from the Sopranos... be ready to be brought down by the Soprano powerhouse! I can't emphasize how much I need everyone to put in the effort to do your own practice for caroling this year. And if you have been doing your own homework, from the bottom of my heart - I'm truly grateful for making everyone's life so much easier and making practice so much more pleasant... If you haven't - please, I don't need people to only show face for practice, I need efforts in preparing for practice. Keep a lookout for the midi files from Irene coming up soon! |

Thanks for your attendance yesterday. Very encouraging indeed to see people coming back to join the Caroling Force. We do have some newbies and oldbies this year so welcome welcome welcome OR welcome back! =) As of yesterday, we've given out additional scores: - 1 set of 2-voice music scores (mainly Christmas Classics like, Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, Joy to the World, O Holy Night) - SATB "Feliz Navidad Pieces learnt so far: - SATB "Feliz Navidad" (All 4 voices till mid-Section B) - Angels We Have Heard on High Please practice your relevant parts accordingly through the week. Lastly, some housekeeping matters: (1) For those who have carelessly lost their transparent white / pink / blue files - please purchase 1 from Popular Bookstore. If not wrong, it cost less than $3 (20 pockets) by this week. (2) For those who needs to reprint the Caroling lyrics, please download the file from here: http://www.box.net/shared/8fckxcgi0o (3) For those who needs to recap on how wonderful a job we did last year, go to link "Videos" and view our wonderful performances. Keep a lookout for Irene's midi files - She has kindly prepared the relevant music pieces for each section so that you can revise on your own. Have a wonderful week ahead. Cheers, Dawn |

In the midst of being so incredibly weighed down by work, this post touched my heart. Go read... especially if you haven't been praying. Here's an excerpt from his post: "I can’t tell you how much time for prayer you need to set aside but I do know ten minutes a day just won’t do it. Ten minutes exercise won’t give you a healthy body; ten minutes study won’t give you a pass in your exams; ten minutes practice on the golf course won’t lower your handicap; 10 minutes practice on the footy field won’t get you a game on Saturday. Can you imagine watching 10 minutes a day of your favourite TV show? Or worse still, can you imagine spending just 10 minutes a day with your boyfriend or your girlfriend, or your fiancé or your spouse? The time you spend at prayer each day must tell God that you are serious about him and that you are putting him first." |
Hey all! Gabriel (remember him? The guy teaching voice from the camp?) asked me to ask you all to come and attend this concert he's singing in. I've already sms-ed some of you about it. Anyway, Gabriel's number in case you want to contact him: 91116775. Or you can let me know then I tell him. I might be going. :) "Last year, we held a big celebration of our 20th anniversary with Victoria Chorale – 20 Years, In Song, featuring choral pieces of almost epic proportions as well as favourites among the local choral scene. |

From Sr. Angeline Lim: "...I mentioned to Fr Frans that the Mass was the best camp mass I have ever attended. It made a difference because you are all choir members and therefore did not need prompting. I could feel the Spirit of God moving amongst you all. The singing was just beautiful." |
