14th Jan 2009 - A Blog Revival?
Calling all Jubilate people! Remember the days when everyone blogged? I absolutely loved reading the debriefs after big events. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Having your words heard by everyone else! So I'll go first. Check me out at: kurufurudo.blogspot.com And, if you want your blog publicised, drop a tag and let me know so I can include it in our list. Cheers, Cliff |

Christmas Midnight: This was an impromptu arrangement of this beautiful carol, done but a day before Christmas Eve. Kudos to Aloy and Josh for being super brave to take this on, last minute. =)

Christmas Midnight: Old skool offertory hymn, Clifford's favorite. This was supposed to be combined with another song, but there wasn't a need - wasn't as packed as it usually is during Christmas Midnight. =(

Christmas Midnight: Yet another impromptu solo, this time, from Steffi. Irene on the emotional soliloquy, and Steffi again on the ending.

Josh writes: Wow, my first post on this blog! I'm so excited I tell you.. Anyway, about Lent Max! I quite like going for stations, because I find that it's one of the most meaningful services held in church. As in, the readings make people think about their lives, remind themselves to be more caring, or perhaps realise how much they are loved to have someone go through all that for them. But these services are quite lacking in music, which makes things alittle less interesting. No problem last night then :) Lots of nice songs, so I didn't mind that it ended late (rather late really, wonder who wasn't on time. oops). Watching bits of the Passion helped too, it hurts so much more to see the stations happen as opposed to merely reading it out. And in that way, going through the stations of the cross later on was that much more meaningful. The doughnuts were great too. For all those who missed this, you missed great doughnuts. There's still one more week to give up something for lent, to give this season meaning...you know what to do :) Oh yes, and thanks Verena, our Faith Formation coordinator (such a beautifully subtle title) for all the effort ^^ Tessa writes: For me, going through the stations of the cross had been very meaningful to me as each station would somehow hit on the things that has been happening in my life. I used to find stations long and boring. However, during this night I realized that each station actually meant something that is not far-fetched, but one that we can relate to in our lives. I am glad that the video was shown right before stations as it has actually helped to emphasize what Jesus was going through at each point. I felt really upset with myself as Jesus had even tougher times than what I am going through; yet He has never given up on us. But I had actually lost faith in myself and the things that are going on around me only after a small setback. I am thankful that I came for Lent Max, it has helped me to build my inner confidence in myself again and most importantly, it has reminded me that Jesus has never given up on me. Not forgetting the many songs that we sang through the night, I hope that there will be more praise and worship sessions in the future. A good way to gather people together, communicate with God through songs and be closer amongst one another. Thanks to Verena for organizing Lent Max, the wonderful musicians, the Passion clip that Nick editted and most importantly the people who turned up to make it so much more meaningful. I am sure for those of us who went for it; there was something that we definitely gained from it. |
